The Bodner Sax Group focuses on developing and delivering wealth management strategies for ultra-affluent clients. Our approach is to work with a limited number of clients and their families to concentrate on the delivery of superior service, customized strategies and prompt responsiveness. We recognize how each client is unique, so in addition to identifying their goals, risk tolerance, priorities, liquidity needs and time horizons, we also seek to understand the nuances, obligations and opportunities which can accompany the source of their wealth.

Different sources of wealth often require different approaches to portfolio strategy and management. Throughout our many years as a team, we have developed an appreciation for the subtleties inherent in each client's "source of wealth" profile. From concentrated stock positions to buyouts or time periods where income is scarce, we have gained extensive experience in devising financial strategies for clients in the following areas:

Your goals and cash flow requirements dictate the way we guide your wealth management strategy

The manner in which we manage your investments depends heavily on your source of wealth, goals, time horizon, tolerance for risk, liquidity needs, income objectives and tax situation. We employ a risk allocation framework to understand and deliver bespoke wealth management strategies, commensurate with a client's priorities and perspectives on risk.

  • Your source of wealth is an important determinant of your wealth-structuring needs. For instance, a person who has accumulated significant wealth via ownership or options in company stock, may benefit from strategies designed to hedge or sell the concentrated securities in a manner intended to reduce one's risk.
  • When building a custom investment strategy, we seek to remain impartial as we search for compelling opportunities. We rely on our collective experience, perform extensive research and feel we benefit from our daily involvement in the markets.
  • We seek to create portfolios with downside protection, examining each asset and liability with a mindset toward risk avoidance. If we can reduce a portfolio's downside risk, thereby shortening recovery time, we may be able to access higher cumulative returns over a full market cycle.
  • We strive to reduce volatility by diversifying portfolios across multiple asset classes and subclasses, including the use of alternative investments. We seek to smooth out returns by utilizing investments which are not highly correlated.
  • We are extremely tax conscious, seeking to manage the impact of taxes on portfolio returns.
Certain asset classes are managed directly by the team where we serve as the portfolio managers. Other portfolio allocations are assigned to institutional asset managers via Merrill Lynch's open investment platform. The combination of these two approaches permits the team greater flexibility when searching for compelling investment opportunities across all global asset classes
