Tom Blanchfield works with ultra affluent clients to address their complex wealth management needs. As a Private Wealth Advisor, Tom integrates the boutique services and strategies of Merrill Private Wealth Management to help clients advance toward their financial goals.
Tom has worked in financial services since 1987. He began his career at E. F. Hutton in New York, followed by a five year tenure with Prudential Securities. In 1994, Tom joined Merrill. As the founder of the Blanchfield Group, Tom caters to clients who require a higher level of sophistication and service. He has significant experience in working with company founders and senior executives to create diversification strategies for concentrated wealth. He is particularly adept in tactical analysis of concentrated equity positions and stock options including Rule 144/145 shares. Tom also heads the team’s fixed income strategy and account management initiatives.
Barron’s Magazine named Tom one of the ”Top 1,000 Advisors in America” from the inception of the accolade in 2009 through 2012 inclusively and again as one of the "Top 1,200 Advisors in America" in 2017, 2018 & 2019. Tom was also named in Financial Times as one of the ”Top 400 Financial Advisors in America” from 2015-2019. As well as the Forbes "Best-in-State Wealth Advisors" list in 2019.
Tom holds a B.S. in Business Administration/Finance from the University of Delaware.
Tom is active in the Mariners Elementary School Foundation, the Ensign Foundation, the Newport Harbor Educational Foundation and has served on board of Newport Mesa Girls Softball. He lives in Newport Beach, California with his wife Jennifer and their three daughters.
