Rob Giannetti is a managing partner of the Erdmann Group within Merrill Private Wealth Management. Rob has garnered national recognition as a leading financial advisor. In 2017, Barron’s named him one of the “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors in America” and the #13 Advisor in Connecticut.
Rob joined the Erdmann Group as a partner in 2001. Previously, he spent over six years at the Bank of New York on Wall Street, where he was a Portfolio Manager reporting to the Chief Investment Officer. He is a long-term investor and a student of Warren Buffett’s and Peter Lynch’s methodology and thought leadership.
Within the team, Rob directs asset allocation, sector diversification, and security and fund selection. He takes a highly customized approach to addressing the investment needs of ultra-affluent clients, sensitive to their risk parameters, personal timelines, lifestyle needs, and long-term goals. Rob recognizes the importance of capital preservation and down-side risk reduction for the effective stewardship and transfer of wealth. He is skilled in diverse markets across multiple asset classes, encompassing both domestic and international markets, as well as traditional and alternative instruments. Rob draws upon Merrill economic forecasts and market projections, as well as thought leadership from third-party sources, to inform his market outlook and stay abreast of evolving conditions. In addition to his investment responsibilities, Rob is the lead advisor for a select number of families.
Rob earned his bachelor’s in Finance and a minor in Economics from Fordham University. He also holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation sponsored by the Investments & Wealth Institute™ (The Institute) at the Wharton School. Rob Giannetti is a qualified Portfolio Manager who, in addition to providing traditional advice and guidance, can help clients pursue their objectives by building and managing his own personalized or defined strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, Merrill model portfolios, and third-party investment strategies. When servicing clients through the firm’s Investment Advisory Program, a Portfolio Manager may manage his strategies on a discretionary basis.
Rob and his wife, Carey, live in Greenwich, Connecticut, with their son, Luke, and their daughter, Lucia.
