Michael joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 2002. As a leader of the Nelson Wood Nelson team within the Merrill Private Wealth Management Group, Michael works closely with nonprofits, endowments, businesses and ultra high net worth families to address a range of financial needs. Michael is attuned to the exacting requirements of institutional clients; he also understands the personal and professional priorities of affluent families. Within the team Michael helps institutional and individual clients manage their liabilities and address their liquidity needs. Michael is also skilled in streamlining the efforts of clients' external tax and legal advisors; he facilitates coordination and communication across entities to advance a cohesive and deliberate wealth management approach.
Michael began his career at Accenture where he performed business and strategy consulting. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. in Finance from Rice University – Jesse H. Jones School of Management. Michael also holds a number of financial designations. He holds a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) professional designation and is a CFP certificant, a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.
Mike was recognized on the 2015 Financial Times ”Top 400 Financial Advisors” list. He uses highly customized strategies to manage the complexities of substantial wealth while shaping a legacy for the future.
Michael is actively involved in the community. He is past president of the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas and a past board member of San Antonio Zoo.
Michael and his wife Jodi have two children Michael and Payton.
