Ms. Piepenkotter delivers disciplined wealth management strategies & personalized planning to help clients simplify their lives, pursue their passions, and confidently enjoy the wealth they have created. As a Private Wealth Advisor, Monica has advised ultra-high net worth families, company founders and business owners, and senior company executives at Merrill since 2000.
Ms. Piepenkotter provides clients with a comprehensive approach and coordinated strategy for each of the areas important to a significant estate: asset & liability management, trust & estate planning services, tax minimization strategies, and cash management. She also helps prepare business owners for liquidity events.
Monica has extensive Wall Street experience and has worked in financial services since 1994. She began her career in New York City at Chase Securities, Inc., where she developed derivative risk management solutions for institutions. In 1997, Monica joined Merrill’s Corporate & Institutional Client Group in New York as a Vice President. During her tenure, she worked with the finance managers of some of the world’s largest corporations, hedging their companies’ exposure to interest rates, foreign exchange, and equities. In 1999, Monica joined Alliance Capital’s equity portfolio management team for the $60 billion Premier Growth Fund
Monica earned a master’s degree in Finance and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter holder, and attained the CFP® certification awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.* She also holds the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation through the Exit Planning Institute.
Ms. Piepenkotter was named to Financial Times Top 400 Financial Advisors in 2018 for the 4th consecutive year and Wealth Management Magazine’s (formerly REP’s) “Top 50 Wirehouse Women: list in 2015.
An active member of her community, Monica is involved with a number of non-profit organizations. Monica serves as Board Member and Chair of the Board Development Committee for Girl Scouts San Diego, and is a cabinet member of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies’ Excellerator group. She is also active with her church and enjoys outdoor activities with her family, reading, and running, and has completed the New York City Marathon.
