Larry is distinguished by his depth of knowledge and breath of financial services experience. Throughout his career, he has pursued advanced designations and certifications to continually enhance his in-depth understanding of the industry.
Beginning his career as a tax professional at Ernst & Young, he earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. He then attained his M.B.A. in finance from NYU's Stern School of Business. Larry later joined Citi's corporate investment bank where he covered global insurance companies. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, CFP professional and also holds the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA) certification. Backed up by the global resources of Merrill Private Wealth Management, Larry is positioned to help families with significant wealth simplify their complex financial lives, maximize the value of their businesses and create lasting wealth.
As a Private Wealth Manager, Larry has extensive experience in guiding sophisticated individuals and families toward their most important goals. He takes an integrated approach to understanding clients' complex financial needs by addressing how the current legislative and tax landscapes can affect their wealth both today and tomorrow.
In Schnaid, Hodge & Associates, Larry believes he has created a team of top-notch advisors with complementary skill sets. His understanding of the entire life cycle of investments benefits his clients as they seek to grow and transfer wealth, mitigate taxes, and manage risk. Larry runs the business by adhering to scalable and repeatable processes for portfolio management and client service. He is responsible for the team's macroeconomic strategy and technical investment analysis, as well as managing larger client relationships.
Outside of the office, Larry enjoys spending time with his wife Amy and their children, Alexandra, Mason and Harrison. Larry is also an avid reader and learner.

For over 20 years, Jonathan has developed a customized approach to wealth management for clients. By bringing a love of the markets, a desire to help others, and decades of experience to the team, Jonathan helps clients pursue their most cherished goals while managing the risks of investing. Most importantly, Jonathan encourages families and businesses to improve their communication about financial matters. He considers himself both an advisor and confidant for his clients. As Senior Portfolio Manager, Jonathan is responsible for following market trends, managing the team's proprietary discretionary based portfolios, and all general investments for the team.
Jonathan also devotes much of his time to Diversity & Inclusion efforts. At Merrill, Jonathan assists in leading Southern California regional responsibilities regarding community engagement and diverse business strategy implementation. These philanthropic endeavors are motivated by Jonathan's family legacy in St. Martin, where he saw firsthand how detrimental a lack of communication can be to the preservation and growth of wealth. Jonathan is committed to giving back and building generational wealth in communities.
Prior to beginning his wealth management career, Jonathan attended Boston University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He then went on to work at State Street Bank as a Mortgage Backed Securities Analyst. His primary responsibilities were to calculate and model monthly cash flows for various CMBS and RMBS securities.
Jonathan is an avid golfer and frequently returns to Connecticut and St. Martin in the US Virgin Islands to visit friends and family. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys cooking, hiking, and traveling. Jonathan lives in Los Angeles with his partner Lea and his two lovely daughters, Amalia and Elsie.
Phil is a Managing Director and Private Wealth Advisor with Merrill Private Wealth Management. Phil has been a professional in the field of High Net Worth Client Management since 1994. Prior to joining Merrill in 2000, Phil was a Vice President in the Private Client Services Group at Goldman Sachs. He is a Certified Private Wealth Advisor®(CPWA®) professional, and has been trained at the Money, Meaning, and Choices Institute in San Francisco. He is a Trustee with Silicon Couloir, and on the board of KHOL, in Jackson Hole, WY.

Phil earned his Ph.D. at the University of California at San Diego in Cellular and Molecular Biology. His postdoctoral work was conducted at the University of California at San Francisco, where he was a Fellow of the Cancer Research Institute. His graduate and postdoctoral works have been published in several journals including: Science, The Journal of Cellular Biology and the Journal of Clinical Investigation. Phil earned his B.S. in Biochemistry and his M.A. in Plant Biology from Binghamton University in New York.
Working with the Merrill, Center for Family Wealth, Phil focuses on developing a comprehensive wealth plan and providing estate planning services for the client, based on the client’s core values around family, philanthropy and wealth.

Eric M. Burns, CFA joined Merrill Private Wealth Management in 2021, bringing with him a decade of experience in capital markets. As the team’s lead analyst, Eric leverages his background in institutional research and portfolio management to create tailored strategies for clients. Eric brings a unique perspective to the team and our clients having spent several years at Sands Capital, a concentrated growth equity manager. As an associate on the global Consumer team, Eric conducted fundamental research on innovative businesses with a particular focus on omnichannel apparel retailers and global hospitality brands. An integral member of the ESG & Stewardship team, Eric also incubated a strategy with a focus on sustainable growth factors and best-in-class governance practices. A native of Virginia, Eric holds a B.S.B.A. with a concentration in finance from Christopher Newport University where he served as the co-captain of the school’s rugby team. He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2018.
Eric currently resides in West Hollywood with his wife Riley. Outside of the office, Eric enjoys spending his time hiking and visiting the National Parks.
Blake joined the team in 2016 after graduating from Villanova University with a B.B.A. in Finance. He works closely with clients to create comprehensive wealth management plans focused on understanding financial goals and developing unique potential solutions to meet them. Blake takes a holistic approach to each clients’ specific circumstance by analyzing both sides of a clients’ balance sheet, modeling cash flows, understanding philanthropic goals, and determining optimal portfolio asset allocation mandates. Blake leverages his experience in financial markets to help build multi-asset portfolios aligned with the specific risks and needs of clients. He is responsible for manager due diligence, market analysis, as well as the execution and overview of the teams discretionary model portfolios. As a lifelong athlete and passionate sports fan, Blake channels his competitive spirit to help client’s and the team achieve their long-term vision. Blake received the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) certification in 2019.
Blake currently resides in the South Bay with his wife Ashley and their dog Dune. Outside of the office, he is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling to see family and friends.

Pilar’s focus is to respond to High Net Worth client requests and inquires in a timely and accurate manner. Responsibilities include but not limited to New Client Relationship Onboarding, document preparation, operational and administrative processing and support.
Pilar has over 20 years of varied experience within the Financial Services industry and holds Series 3, 7, 63 and 8 FINRA registrations. She lives in Santa Monica and enjoys photography, yoga and spending time with her family in Los Angeles.
Greg joined Merrill in 2021 where he provides wealth management services to ultra-high net worth clients and mid to large-sized businesses. Greg acts as a liaison between financial advisors and clients offering administrative support and maintaining ongoing client relationships. Before joining Merrill, Greg worked as a Senior Relationship Banker with Pacific Premier Bank where his main focus was account management and building relationships with successful families and individuals. He has over eight years of experience in all aspects of banking services and administering client accounts. Greg earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from California State University Northridge. He is firmly committed to attaining high levels of client satisfaction.
Outside of the office, Greg enjoys spending time with his Wife, Family, and Friends. He enjoys trying new restaurants & traveling.
Using her extensive experience in client relations and project management, Christiane manages the day to day scheduling of multiple calendars, coordination of marketing events, and organization of client meetings and reviews. Christiane also provides the operational and administrative support that accompanies complex financial situations. This includes funds processing through wire transfers, check issuance, and gifting of stock and various other client service transactions. Christiane currently resides in West Los Angeles, where she enjoys experimenting with new baking recipes and spending time with her rescue dog, Harvie.
Kaitlin started as the team’s intern in late 2020 and recently transitioned into her full-time role. As part of the investment team, Kaitlin assists in market research and investment analysis, as well as client reporting. Kaitlin graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Accounting and a B.S. in Business Administration (Emphasis: Finance).
Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Mohammed Dakhil joined Schnaid, Hodge & Hartl at Merrill Private Wealth Management in 2023 as a Wealth Management Specialist. Prior to joining, Mohammed worked as a Debt & Structured Finance Analyst at CBRE and helped broker commercial real estate financing transactions. In 2020, Mohammed earned his B.A in Economics from the University of California Berkeley where he was involved in the Undergraduate Economics Association.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, learning music, and exploring new places.
