Shirley Quackenbush leads the Quackenbush Group, a wealth management team within Merrill Private Wealth Management. Shirley works with a select group of affluent and ultra-affluent individuals, families, and institutions to design and implement sophisticated wealth strategies. She leads a multi-disciplinary approach that is firmly grounded in client goals and priorities. Shirley recognizes that significant wealth can entail both complexity and opportunity. She and her team offer sophisticated strategies to streamline the preservation and transfer of wealth. Driven to exceed expectations, Shirley serves clients with an intensity that mirrors her interest in their wellbeing. She integrates strategies across a spectrum of needs: investment management, executive services, trust and estate planning services, credit and lending through Bank of America, N.A., lifestyle services, and philanthropy. Shirley has more than three decades of experience in financial services. Prior to joining Merrill in 2003, she held tenures with JP Morgan, Kidder Peabody and Hambrecht & Quist. She has been selected for a number of leadership roles within Merrill such as participating in the Optimal Practice Model (OPM) program as a teacher and mentor to fellow advisors. Shirley earned a B.S. in Marketing and Finance from the California State University, Long Beach. She holds the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) designation from the Investments & Wealth Institute™ (The Institute) in conjunction with The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Shirley was named to Forbes "Best-in-State Wealth Advisors" list* and Forbes "America's Top Women Wealth Advisors" list** in both 2018 and 2019.
Shirley was a member of the board of directors for the Orange County United Way and an advisory board member of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. She was also a founding member and past chair of the United Way Women’s Philanthropy Fund. Shirley lives in Corona del Mar with her husband, Steve, and two sons, Marshall and Reed.
